Snazzy and hilarious - Grease Reviews

I first watched this movie when I was young and did not understand a lot of the the parts that my older cousins were laughing at, and I enjoyed it nonetheless. Now, I am five years older, and understand everything from start to finish and still relish every viewing. Sometimes I see it on t.v. and I watch it anyway, even though I might have seen it the day before. Even if there are only five minutes left in the movie, I flip to the channel to watch it. I love the songs, they are well written, and I must say, they speak to one's mind and their humorous side. My favorite character of the bunch, though, had to be Stockard Channing's Rizzo. She was great, and I loved her attitude. If someone gave me the DVD (for alas, I am not able to find a copy!) on my dying day, I would die happy. P.S. It's true, I also say this of good food.

Grease is the word - Grease Reviews

I remember that I was not allowed to see this movie growing up because of my religion. I was born in 1972 so this movie came out and was popular while I was still very very young. Everytime that we would drive to church we would listen to the 8-track soundtrack going and coming. Therefore I fell in love with the music before I even saw the movie. Go figure that we were able to listen to the music but could not see the movie. When Beta tapes came out and movies became availible on tape that was when Grease hit Beta. I remember the move was about 80.00 and I begged mom and dad to buy this move for me. They finally gave in and got it. I remember that I recorded the entire movie on cassette. I then recorded just the music on cassette. I was about to listen to the music/movie on cassette whenever I wanted. Funny, that I found myself memorizing the entire moves word for word. Today, I own the special aniversery edition that I am glad that I got the DVD!

Grease - Grease Reviews

This movie will definetly be a favorite to many. It's a pretty awesome movie because John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John come out in it. That's so awesome. This was John Travolta's big break as an actor in a musical of comedy, even though Olivia Newton-John was already a star for about 5 years.

Come on you know you love it too!! - Grease Reviews

Corny I know but there is just something about this movie that I absolutely love. Maybe it's the idea of poodle skirts and pink ladies. Whatever it is, I fell in love with this movie from the very first time I saw it. I know every lyric to every song and can't help singing along to the movie. The story isn't great it's just about teenagers their senior year of highschool. But it's just one of those movies that makes you wish you went to that highschool and were friends with Danny, Knickie, and Frenchy! If you haven't seen Grease you need to rent it. I'm not saying it its the best movie but it makes you feel good and has catchy music!

I don't care how popular this movie is - Grease Reviews

The only thing worse than the horrible lyrics (what was with the grease lightining song?), the bad acting, the horrible plot, and the twisted ending was how poular this movie was! The girl changes her pesonality just for a guy! That is an insult to the human race! This movie isn't worth a cent.

Aaaargggghhhh!!! this is an ace film - Grease Reviews

A school high - Grease Reviews

Randal Kleiser's 1978 GREASE, provides us with a second look at this generation's greatest movie musical, and a curtain call for one of the best-loved cinematic genres of the 20th Century. In the spirit of the best of them, GREASE recaptures the feeling of a bygone era -- in this case, the rocking 50s -- and paints the ordinary experiences of graduating high school seniors with the imaginative colors of movie magic. The film is the screen-adaptation of a long-running Broadway musical; the story of an Australian transfer-student (Olivia Newton-John) and her chronically-cool, reluctantly-romantic beau (John Travolta), and how she gets him to "gravitate in [her] direction," even while he holds-off a rival gang's advances on his turf and ruminates over his devotion to his male buddies. Taking aside the romanticism of revisiting the last specimen of an extinct genre (musicals), GREASE stands on its own for its inventive use of camera techniques, by cinematographer Bill Butler -- who was nominated for an Oscar for his work on ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST and also worked on Jaws (both 1975) -- and for the dynamic choreography of the dance routines by Patricia Birch. The "Greased Lightning" sequence in which Travolta and his gang fantasize about a suped-up car exemplifies the vibrant cinematography of GREASE. The bleachers scene in which Travolta recalls his hot summer fling epitomizes the superb choreography. Virtually all of GREASE's songs have become cult favorites because everyone associates them either with the era that is depicted -- for those that are old enough to remember -- or, at the very least, with youthful memories associated with the original release of the movie -- for the rest of us. The cast also enhances the appeal of this film with their spirited performances, and Travolta's easy charm is especially well-captured in the two-hours of celluloid covered by the film ("Don't make me laugh; hah, hah, hah," he mocks, with Jackie Gleason-like intonation and timing) , as are Newton-John's expressive vocal performances. Although it is a stretch to believe that these twenty-something cast-members are high school students, the chemistry of the assembly of actors works. This movie is chock-full of delight, including memorable big-screen performances by icons of the era depicted, including small-screen notable Cid Caesar (of the golden-age-of-television classic, "Your Show of Shows"); and Frankie Avalon who has a cameo, and musical performance, as well (his swan song before turning to "that malt-shop in the sky"). Also endearing are various musical numbers by the once-ubiquitous rockabilly mavens, Sha-Na-Na. To find any defects in this movie, you'll have to look very hard -- the peripheral, anachronistic traffic on the riverbed race sequence, maybe? (The sequence was shot in my hometown of Huntington Park.) (Carlos Colorado)

Vinnie and olivia - what a pair! - Grease Reviews

OK, I don't really like John Travolta as an actor very much (Except for Welcome Back Kotter) As a person, he actually seems like a cool guy. He just isn't a really good actor, except in a few roles. This is one of those roles. Travolta is great, Olivia Newton-John tries hard to keep up with him. She's cute and can sing, but Vinnie, err, John is the real star here.

Greastest musical ever - Grease Reviews

I love this movie! Everything about it is fabulous, the story, the actors, the characters, the songs, the dancing, and the sets. Its perfect!

One of the best musicals of all time! - Grease Reviews

What can I say? The songs rocked and the dancing was entertaining! I enjoyed every moment of "Grease" and I encouraged those who haven't seen it to watch this wonderfully performed musical. I liked the beginning of the film where they introduced the cast in cartoon mode.

You're the one that i want! ooh ooh honey! - Grease Reviews

Oh man! I can't even begin to explain how great this movie is! The singing the dancing, everything about it was amazing! Even to this day if it comes on I'll get up off of my butt and start dancing and singing along. John Travolta and Olivia Newton- John were the best actors I have seen in a long time. They need to win every award their is for movies, music, and singing!

A kind of soundtrack - Grease Reviews

This movie is what I remember seeing when I was a little younger. I remembered seeing it as a cartoon at the very beginning before it changed into photographic. The music soundtrack in this movie were stimulating for a time but not any more today.

So good it almost hurts to watch it - Grease Reviews

Oh, this movie may be one of the best ever made. And I tell you, even A+ is a much lower rating for this amazing movie. I could just tell you about this movie all day. The time when Jan sings the "Brusha-brusha-brusha" thing at the slumber party is sooooo awesome. I'm also a big fan of before-and-after pictures, and this movie is like an extended before-and-after picture. (You know at the end when Sandy's all bad-girl, even though earlier she's all good-girl? That's what I'm talking about.) I wanna tell you more, tell you more, but I have no time! So lastly, this is a miracle.

One of the best musicals around - Grease Reviews

This is a very fun movie, you can watch it over and over, its definatly worth your time. John Travoltas a great singer, and dancer. This movies for everybody.

Awesome - Grease Reviews

Grease has had to be one of the best musicals ever made. It's funny and interesting and some things that go on in the movie still happens in real life.If had to pick my most favorite movie this would be it.

Go grease, you're burnin'up the box office! - Grease Reviews

Greased Lightnin', Go greased Lightnin'. Ah, those summer nights. Oh Oh Honey. I'm hopelessly devoted to you. Grease is the word! Any of these lines sound familiar? You'd have to not have any 1970s spirit alive in you not to recognize them. Believe me, in 1978, this is what The Return of the King is doing to the earth right now. Travolta and Newton-John shook the world like a banana milkshake with their singing, dancing, acting, and performances in this one. No one slept in the late seventies, they listened to the music from this movie. In case you haven't seen the movie (believe me, you should) and don't know the story, here it is. The boys are mixing with the girls as they enter their last year in school. One pair is Sandy (Olivia) and Danny (John). Sandy is on the verge of popularity at school, but is a little shy. Danny and his boys are a big group who are in the race car buisness. Their car, Greased Lightning (that's the title for a song most people even today can't help but sing along to) is truly nothing more than a scrap of tin, but Danny is keen to make it win the upcoming race. Throughout the year, they'll go to a high school dance, trash the local restraunt, and have some wild experiences until the year ends. Final result: can't tell you, but go see it to find out. Even though the movie is some times slow moving, it rarely is. The overall greatness of this movie makes you forget about it. I guarantee, Grease is just one of those movies worth seeing over and over all your life.

One of travolta's best - Grease Reviews

John Travolta used to have it all. He used to be skinny, handsome, and used to make all the right movie decisions. However, that time came and went. Now he is fat, old, and making all the wrong movie decisions. There are two movies he made that will never be forgotten: Grease and Saturday Night Fever, both very good movies. Grease is similar to Rogers and Hammerstein?s Oklahoma! It tells about multiple love stories. But the difference is the love stories in Grease are better then that of Oklahoma! Grease tells the story of Danny (John Travolta), a greaser. He meets a beautiful young Australian girl named Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) over the summer and has a day of passion with her. She then returns to Australia, leaving Danny wherever he is. First day of High School. Turns out Sandy made a transfer and stayed in Danny?s town, unbeknownst to him, but beknowst to us. Of course they meet again, but Danny, being a greaser, acts like an ***** and gets her made at him. She likes and dislikes on and off throughout the entire film, while other stories intertwine around theirs. Overall, I must say I like it. It had excellent songs that keep running through my head and making me want to dance. My favorites: Summer Nights, Greased Lightning, You?re the one that I Want, and Look at me (I?m Sandra Dee). The whole purpose of the movie was to retell High School in the ?50s, but since I wasn?t alive at that time, I wouldn?t know. It probably did a good job, though. Really, there?s not much else to say, except that everyone would love this movie. Trust me. Especially those who love musicals or rock n? roll.

Grease rocks!!! - Grease Reviews

I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW GOOD THIS MOVIE IS, IT IS THE BEST MUSICAL IN THE UNIVERSE. THE T BIRDS ARE HILIARIOUS, THE PINK LADIES ARE COOL AND HAVE ATTITUDE, AND THE CHEERLEADERS ARE PRATS, BUT I GUESS THEY ARE MEANT TO BE. GREASE IS SO COOL, YOU CAN HARDLY STOP SINGING THE SONGS WHEN YOU'VE SEEN IT. WE WATCHED IT WITH MY FRIENDS, AND WE COULDN'T STOP SINGING ALONG. A GREAT THING WITH ALL MUSICALS AND ESPECIALLY THIS ONE, IS THAT YOU CAN GET THE SONGS ON CD. WE DID THAT AT OUR YR 7 DISCO AND EVERYONE WAS DANCING TO IT, AND THAT WAS PRACTICALLY THE ONLY ONE WHERE EVERYONE DANCED AND NOBODY SAT OUT, APART FROM A FEW OTHERS. EVERYONE APART FROM A FEW DUMBOS LIKES THIS MOVIE. UNLIKE OTHER FILMS SET IN THAT TIME IT HAS GREAT POTENTIAL, AND THE ACTING IS BRILL. GO GREASE, IT'S THE BEST MUSICALL IN THE HISTORY OF CINEMA!!!!!!!!!
